What we are learning
Learnings from the work
Relational restoration is at the heart of this work. The most transformative work is not just about dismantling harmful structures but instead rebuilding meaningful, accountable and reciprocal relationships.
Intersectionality matters in practice, not just in theory. The people we serve navigate overlapping barriers – language, immigration status, trauma, financial precarity, and system discrimination – and our programs and policies need to reflect that complexity.
The legal system was not built with everyone in mind. Through our legal education work, we have seen firsthand how language barriers, unfamiliarity with Canadian law, and fear of legal systems leave immigrant and newcomer communities without access to their rights.
Transformation starts from within. We cannot advocate for systemic change in the world without examining the systems in our own walls. This project has challenged us to not just articulate our values, but to truly live them.
